Splitwise does not support group admins or special permissions. On Splitwise, a person can view, edit, or delete an expense if either of the following applies:
- They are involved in that expense.
- They belong to the group that the expense is part of.
There are no special permissions based on who originally added the expense or who created the group. This is by design, as we believe that anyone involved should be able to correct mistakes and fix errors. For example, if someone added an incorrect expense to your account, you would want to be able to remove it.
If you'd like to be notified about changes to your account, you can turn on notifications to receive an email and/or mobile notification any time an expense is created, updated, or deleted. You can also view a record of changes by selecting "Recent Activity" on the web or "Activity" in the app.
If you'd like to manage expenses privately, you can create a group on our web app (www.splitwise.com) without adding any other members. This allows you to track debts on your own and share balances with others when you're ready.
