You cannot request a payment through Venmo or PayPal on Splitwise. Payments must be initiated by the sender.
That said, if you are in a region that supports Splitwise Pay (our in-app payment method for US users) or Pay by Bank (available in select European countries), you can request a payment directly when a friend owes you a balance. Tap "Request" from the relevant friendship or group details screen to get started.
If you would like to nudge a friend to pay you back, you can also send them a balance reminder.
On the mobile app:
- Tap "Friends".
- Select the friend you would like to remind.
- Tap the "Remind..." button.
On the web app (www.splitwise.com):
- Click the friend's name in the left-hand sidebar.
- Click the gear icon on the right-hand side.
- Click "Send a balance reminder".
